Happy Birthday Naruto.

It was an average day for Team 7: Naruto was giving Sasuke evils, Sasuke was giving Naruto evils, and Sakura was giving Naruto evils but smiling sweetly at Sasuke. Kakashi was just standing there reading Icha Icha Paradise, he'd apparently given up on trying to restore calm between the three.
"Naruto you are SUCH a pain," Sakura snorted.
"Heh...Loser..." Sasuke muttered
Naruto looked at Sakura in shock, a hurt look spreading across his face
"Fine...whatever," He whispered, walking away.
Sakura blinked. What was his problem? She yelled at him all the time, what was so different now? Sasuke smirked at Naruto's slumped retreating figure.
"I almost feel sorry for the idiot. ALMOST," he said as he too walked away, but in the other direction. That left Sakura alone with Kakashi.
"Sensei...?" Sakura began "What was wrong with Naruto?"
"It's hard to believe that after this long you still don't remember when your team-mates birthday is..." Kakashi sighed.
She automatically felt horrible. Poor Naruto! She'd completely forgotten about his birthday and made a fool of him, no wonder he was upset. She looked around, trying to find Naruto again so she could catch up and apologise, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"You think he'll take it personally, Sensei?" She asked.
"Well, considering he has a huge crush on you, it's definitely gonna sting," He replied calmly, glancing up from his book.
She sighed. She'd known about Naruto's feelings for her, but she'd never thought about how her teasing effected him.
"I need to find him and apologise.." she decided
"Then i should probably tell you he'll be at the Ichiraku ramen bar around 8pm for his dinner," Kakashi said as he smiled under his mask.
She bowed
"thank you, Kakashi-sensei," she murmered.
He nodded in understanding.
"It's fine, now get going before you miss him,"
"Hai,"
she ran down the same path Naruto took, cursing herself for being so narrow-minded

Naruto trudged through the village, not even noticing the light rain that had began to fall. How could she have forgotten? He expected Sasuke to forget, it's not like Sasuke would care even if he HAD remembered, but knowing that Sakura forgot really hurt. What had he done wrong? All he'd done was be nice, he hadn't done anything wrong to her. So why did she yell at him all the time and give him dirty looks? Naruto sighed. He could never get someone like Sakura, she only had eyes for Sasuke. That fact infuriated him. Why HIM?! He disrespected her, ignored her and was generally just unkind to her. So WHY did she follow him around like a dog and its master? He slapped his forehead as soon as he thought that. He shouldn't blame Sakura like that, he should blame that idiot Sasuke for being such a jerk. He was about to turn into the ramen bar, as always, when he heard an angelic voice calling him.
"Naruto! Wait up!"
He turned and saw Sakura running towards him through the rain. What did she want? Probably to ask if he knew where Sasuke had went.

"I haven't seen Sasuke, Sakura-Chan," he muttered.
"What? No, that's not what i'm here for. I was gonna ask if i could join you," She smiled.
His jaw nearly dropped in suprise.
"Uh, s-sure, Sakura-Chan," he replied shyly, smiling widely afterwards.
She giggled and sat down on one of the stools, Naruto soon sitting beside her. She wasn't a big fan of ramen, truthfully, but she needed to put things right so she was willing to eat it for now.
"So...Sakura-Chan...why are you suddenly deciding to eat with me?" Naruto asked as he fiddled with his thumbs nervously.
"Well, it IS your birthday, you don't deserve to be alone," she smiled.
"Oh....i thought you'd forgot...you didn't act like you remembered earlier..." He sighed.
"That's because i didn't, i'm not gonna lie to you Naruto. I did forget, but i am so sorry for what i did, really i am. It was horrible for me to treat you like that," Sakura replied as she shook her head.
"It's alright, Sakura-Chan, i'm just glad you're even talking to me," Naruto said truthfully, his cheeks flushing pink.
She smiled softly, he might've been an oaf, but he was a sweet one.
"Well, i thought about everyone's lack of interest in your birthday so i thought i'd stay with you for a while." she explained as their ramen arrived.
"Special treat for the birthday boy!" the chef cheered in a jolly manner.
Naruto grinned widely at him and began wolfing down his ramen, as he usually did. Sakura, on the other hand, ate slowly and carefully, making sure to not spill anything on her clothes. By the time Naruto had finished his thrid bowl, Sakura had just finished her first.
"Ah, that hit the spot," Naruto sighed contentedly, patting his stomach. "What do you wanna do now, Sakura-Chan?"
"It's your birthday, it's up to you," she replied.
Naruto thought for a moment then smiled widely.
"Well...we could just go for a walk?" He suggested.
Sakura smiled.
"Sounds good to me,"
They both stood up in unison, thanked the chef and walked back out into the street. They began to wander through the moonlit village, chatting casually and laughing with one another. Sakura began to realise how kind and sweet he was, unlike the cold and harsh Sasuke. She looked across at his bright, cheerful face and soon found herself wondering how she could've ever been mean to him. He saw her looking and looked back at her.
"Something wrong, Sakura-Chan?" He asked curiously.
"No, i'm fine. Just thinking," she smiled.
When Sakura smiled at him, Naruto felt his face heating up at record speeds, but he couldn't find the resolve to look away from her emerald eyes, her porcelin face and her hair that was so delicate it could've been made entirely of cherry blossoms. She seemed to notice his enraptured stare and also felt a blush creep across her cheeks. She looked straight ahead and cleared her throat.
"Hey, is that your house?" She asked, pointing directly in front of her.
Surely enough, there was his little apartment, and Naruto was hit by a huge surge of disappointment. That meant that their walk was over, and Sakura would have to leave him to go home.
"Yeah...that's it," he sighed.
"You sound disappointed?" she replied.
He nodded.
"Yeah, cuz now you have to leave,"
She blushed.
"Y-you'll be seeing me tomorrow, Naruto,"
"Yeah, but i'll be seeing Sasuke too,"
"Oh...right..."

Naruto jammed his key into the lock on the door and reluctantly turned them until the click of an opening lock was heard.
"Goodnight, Sakura-Chan," he whispered
"Wait, Naruto. I haven't given you your present yet," she smiled.
He blinked in suprise and turned around to face her.
"You got a present for me, Sakura-Chan?" He asked.
"Of course, now shut your eyes," she giggled.
He did as he was told and closed his eyes. It was so quiet he'd thought she'd run off, but when he went to open his eyes he felt something touch his lips. Sakura's own. His eyes darted open to find Sakura kissing him, her own eyes already closed. He didn't complain, he closed his own eyes and slowy, carefully, placed his hands on either side of her waist. She didn't pull back, which made him smile inwardly, and slipped her own arms around his neck. They both held the kiss for a minute then pulled away, both breathing raggedly and smiling.
"Happy birthday, Naruto-Kun..." Sakura whispered.
My first one-shot, please be nice XD

AWW!!! ^_^

You see?? These kinds of stories always make me more interested in Naruto and Sakura being together. The proof is in every time they're together, in the show.
